“Staggeringly good . . . Eva Jurczyk is a dazzling talent, and her dark and beguiling Paris is unforgettable.” —Rosie Walsh

A sophisticated, character-driven thriller in which a romantic rendezvous in Paris turns disastrous after the disappearance of a new lover

Genie St. Onge’s heart is broken more often than it’s not—but that doesn’t stop her from diving in head-first when she meets Jacob Ford. Their connection is instantaneous and consuming, and they agree to meet again in Paris. In a heady mix of sugared pastries and rumpled bedsheets, they begin plotting their future together. In the dreamy apartment they're renting in the 11th arrondissement, they become intoxicated by each other.

Until Jacob disappears.

Genie knows Jacob would never leave her. Not by choice. When phone calls to hospitals turn up nothing, she grows convinced that someone must have taken him. It's the only explanation.

Under the scrutiny of the French police, however, Genie’s story doesn’t quite hold up—and it sounds like Jacob might not be all he seems, either. Through police interviews with Genie and nearby residents of the 11th arrondissement, the truth remains elusive. She swears has no idea what happened to Jacob – so why doesn’t her story align with anyone else’s?

Praise

“Staggeringly good. Eva Jurczyk is a dazzling talent, and her dark and beguiling Paris is unforgettable.”

—Rosie Walsh, New York Times bestselling author of The Love of My Life

“Set in a richly drawn Paris, this deftly plotted, character-driven thriller kept me guessing from the first page to the last. Exploring a romantic dalliance that goes disastrously wrong, the novel unfolds through a series of interviews, each perspective making you not only question the one that came before, but yourself. A chilling sense of unease pervades every page and Jurczyk’s accomplished and intelligent prose only amplifies that paranoia as the book ratchets up the tension to a stunning conclusion. A must-read!”

—Sarah Pearse, New York Times bestselling author of The Sanatorium

“A brilliantly structured and richly atmospheric thriller about love, passion, and deceit that will sweep you away into the romance of Paris, then leave you questioning everyone and everything, including yourself.”

—Kimberly McCreight, New York Times bestselling author of Someone Else's Husband

“In this brilliantly executed suspense, truth and perception are skewed and no one's memory can be trusted as a woman's life hangs in the balance. Told entirely in police transcripts, The Paris Files enthralls with whiplash-sharp turns and tantalizing twists. Eva Jurczyk delivers a superb masterclass in originality that will keep you pinned to every mesmerizing page.”

—Samantha M. Bailey,USA Today and #1 international bestselling author of Hello, Juliet

“Like Paris itself, The Paris Files shimmers, seduces, and never lets you go. Eva Jurczyk delivers a dazzling, brilliantly structured novel that is part mystery, part thriller, part love letter to the City of Lights. I was utterly immersed until the final jaw-dropping twist. Simply exceptionnel. Fantastique!”

—Alex Finlay, bestselling author of The Anniversary

“A low note of dread rings through this thriller from the very first page. Beneath Eva Jurczyk's gorgeous rendition of Paris, something terrible is stirring. A compulsive, breathless read.”

—Bea Setton, author of Berlin

“I loved The Paris Files. I was absolutely gripped from beginning to end, and loved being as clueless as the investigating police officers, and not knowing who to trust. I wholly believed in the characters, and Paris, and every chapter had me desperate for the next. A truly compulsive, and beautifully clever, book.”

—Ellie Levenson, author of Room 706
