Maynard crafts an exceptionally brilliant, emotionally heavy puzzle where Frances is an unforgettable, heartbreakingly vulnerable protagonist navigating a world of elite predators. The prose is vivid, the social satire is top-tier, and the final sequence of reveals is pure, chilling suspense.
