A disappearance from the past echoes in the future in this ambitious and wrenching mystery, perfect for readers of The God of the Woods.

In 1986, a child disappeared. Nearly forty years later, a tip line rings.

It’s been almost four decades since Edie Marshall’s little brother, Charlie, vanished on his walk home from day camp. After the case went cold, Edie—who had once dreamed of pursuing a life beyond the confines of her small Vermont town—never left, her dreams disappearing right along with Charlie. In her fifties now, she teaches at her old high school and has returned to her childhood home to care for her ailing mother.

When the long-dormant tip line set up for Charlie rings for the first time in years, Edie assumes it’s a wrong number—but on the other end is Jericho Jenkins, the only person of interest ever identified in the investigation. Jericho believes he’s found something of Charlie’s on his property, and with this news, all the pain and uncertainty of that summer rushes back to Edie, including vivid memories of her best friend, Trill: their shared secrets and the devastating lie Edie told that could have changed everything.

Now Jericho is under suspicion again, Trill is coming home, and her mother’s hope is renewed. Edie’s in the same place with the same people as when Charlie first vanished, but somehow everything is different now, and maybe this time they can discover the truth.

Everything Has Happened is not only a compelling mystery of a missing child but a story of forbidden young love, a deeply moving novel for readers of Rebecca Makkai and Angie Kim.

Praise

“Everything Has Happened is a haunting, beautifully written coming-of-age story of love, loss and a decades old mystery. Equal parts suspenseful and evocative, Greenwood proves her talent as a writer. This book - and its characters - will stay with readers for a long, long time. A must read.”

—Mary Kubica, New York Times bestselling author of Local Woman Missing

“In Everything Has Happened by T. Greenwood, past and present collide in this immersive, suspenseful coming-of-age story of love, loss, and haunting regrets. Greenwood writes with the aching beauty of a poet and the knife-sharp edge of a thriller writer and has, once again, penned what is sure to be one of my favorite books of the year. Everything Has Happened belongs at the top of your reading list - a true stunner.”

―Heather Gudenkauf, New York Times bestselling author of The Overnight Guest and The Perfect Hosts

“A gorgeously written literary mystery that brilliantly captures both the 1980s and modern day, Everything Has Happened grabbed me in the first sentence and didn't let go until the very end. Filled with rich, breathable characters, beautiful prose, and a driving secret at its heart — I devoured this novel.”

—Jillian Cantor, USA Today bestselling author of Beautiful Little Fools

“Everything Has Happened is an incredible feat, the rare shining gem of a novel that’s at once beautifully written, flawlessly crafted, and addictively page-turning. A gripping cold case mystery AND a compassionate sandwich-generation story AND a study in sapphic longing? Tammy Greenwood knows what she’s doing. This book destroyed me in the best way. I loved it.”

―Amy Shearn, award-winning author of Animal Instinct and Unseen City

“I loved every single page of this novel. Everything Has Happened may be T. Greenwood's best work yet. It is a lesson on love, loss, grief, and how one bad decision can reverberate across decades. I will be thinking about this book and its characters for a very long time.”

―Mary O’Malley, Virtual Bookseller Skylark Booshop

“Everything Has Happened is a compelling mystery and a stirring depiction of sexual awakening. A missing child is a horrific nightmare, made even more so when the 40 year old crime is unsolved. T. Greenwood paints an engrossing portrait of a small town that is forever changed by secrets and lies. This is "stay up all night" fiction at its finest.”

―Pamela Klinger-Horn, Valley Bookseller
